Immanuel has the great pleasure of hosting Dr. Dean Wenthe for this summer’s workshop.  Dr. Wenth joined the Concordia Theological Seminary faculty in1971, first at the Springfield, Illinois, campus, then in Fort Wayne when theSeminary relocated there in 1976. He is a professor of Exegetical Theology and president emeritus of the Seminary, having served as president from 1996–2011.

The three day workshop is entitled First Peter: Epistle of  Christian Hope.  It will focus on the epistle’s rich theology, which touches every aspect of Christian living in a world of hostility, uncertainty and paganism. The unique theological formulation is seen as credal statement, with particular emphasis placed on the work of Christ and its hope-giving effect. The course will focus on the practical application of the work of Christ, the spiritual priesthood of all believers and eschatology for the church today.

The workshop is intended for academics, pastors, and laity alike.  The cost for each summer workshop which includes 1.5 CEU credits is $150 for pastors/church workers and $100 for retired pastors/laity.  Those wishing to download a Summer Workshop brochure and/or register for the workshop are encouraged to do so through Concordia Theological Seminary’s Continuing Education website here.  Questions regarding directions and housing should be directed to Pastor Ben Maton (pastor@immanuelcharlottesville.com).
